A guide to gift wrapping

Do you ever struggle finding all the right components to create that gorgeous gift wrapping for gifts? Well, today I am sharing my tips on how to choose correlating gift wrap paper, ribbons, and toppers to complete your gifts for the upcoming holidays! Below I have added a simple guide on the steps I take to pick the items out!

step 1 : gift wrap paper

The gift wrap paper is the base of your gift. It will be what sets the tone for your gift and color palette. I always pick out a trio of gift wrap paper that falls within the style and theme I am looking to go with. I always pick out a solid color, a pattern, and a print. Here I have gone with a coastal style theme.

step 2 : ribbon

Pick different textured ribbons to add depth to your gifts. Here I have choose a jute twine (a go-to always), a velvet ribbon, and a fringed chiffon ribbon. The combination of all three provide dimension.

step 3 : toppers

Toppers are an added bonus to the gift that adds flair -- think of this as jewelry for your gifts. Moreover, it is a bonus gift that can be given. I love adding ornaments as toppers. They add texture and color that may not have been used as the base of your gift. For this gift guide, I have added gold bells. These can be easily stringed for ornaments. The velvet ribbon would pair well with these and provide a more elevated look and feel.

step 4 : gift tags

To complete your gift you will add a gift tag to state who it is from and to. My go-to gift tags are these kraft gift tags. I personally love them because I can buy in bulk and use throughout the year. They are versatile and match many different styles.

It's spooky season!

Halloween is one of my son's favorite holidays to decorate for! Before kids, I never really decorated for Halloween. However over the years, I have started to accumulate many decor items for Halloween. While I try to keep things non-spooky since I still have a little one, I have loved curating a collection of Halloween decor that aligns with my decor style but gives off those spooky vibes! With any season, I always make sure to decorate with items that are transitional throughout the year, while adding in some that are specific to the holiday.

Halloween Front Porch Inspiration

When decorating for Halloween, I love to keep the palette neutral while adding in different elements for Halloween, especially nature. For this Halloween front porch, I have brought in many nature elements from the tree branches to the mums. I have also included a simple do it yourself affordable Halloween wreath. The front porch is simple, yet gives off that spooky-like vibe. To keep the decor items even more transitional, you can include a more standard welcome mat. From the beautiful terracotta planters (a splurge item), the wicker planters, and accent rug, these items can be used throughout the year! While I go for more of a neutral palette, you can certainly add in more color with the mums & flowers and/or paint the pumpkins to be more aligned with your style! You can even add in a more colorful area rug!

How to make a DIY Halloween wreath

This simple do it yourself Halloween wreath that can be either placed on your front door, over your fireplace, or vignette.
Items you will need:

A grapevine wreath
2-3 crows (depending on size)
Moss
Velvet ribbon (optional)
Bats (optional)

To create this simple DIY Halloween wreath, you will take your grapevine wreath and add moss to the base on the wreath. To secure it to the wreath, you can add some hot glue; however, with the grapevine being pretty rough, the moss typically sticks pretty well in the wreath. From there, you can add in the crows. The crows can be secured by using the wires that are at the base of the crows. Depending on the size of your grapevine wreath, you can add in 2-3 crows. This can complete your wreath -- super simple and easy! If you want to make it a bit more spookier, you can add in a few bats. You can even try a mid-size velvet ribbon to the top to dress it up a bit.

Decorating your mantle for fall

Fall is around the corner. I do not know about you, but it is my favorite season of the year! Every year the first area that I decorate when the season changes over is my mantle! Mantle decorating can be challenging and can take some time to make "perfect". Below I have put to together two different ways to decorate your mantle for the season! I love layering in warm colored toned florals, natural wood elements, and textural pieces to help balance out the area. This year I am keeping my fall decor simple and very neutral.
