welcome to the journal
where we will navigate home decor, self-growth, and lifestyle adventures
The space is roughly around 300 sq ft. We needed to create different areas within the office area to allow for functionally. As you enter the office space, you are greeted by this gorgeous console table from Target. The console area provides a surface area to drop your belongings such as wallets and keys. It is an easy grab and go spot when departing from the office space. This leads us into the cozy and relaxing seating area - the perfect space for collaboration.
This side desk provides an opportunity for a team member to work independently and focus on their work. We set it aside in the room to allow for that. The desk is from the Studio McGee line from Target and is absolutely gorgeous! The natural wood tone gives the room another textural element and really ties everything together.
Now for the main focal area in the office - the main desk (well, actually dining table). The dining table/desk allows for extra space to spread out paperwork, work on a project, and organize all those piles. It is the perfect meeting space for those zoom calls meeting and for when they can, allow for the perfect space to meet with new families and current ones. These stunning chairs from World Market were the perfect addition - providing a stunning visual with the handwoven rope.
And then like any other office space, we needed to add in a lot of storage. We had this perfect inlet area to add these glass door Billy bookcases from Ikea. We knew we wanted to provide a balance within the space to allow an area to display some beautiful decor pieces, but hide all the administrative items such as colored paper, crafts, laminator, and extra materials, etc. These bookcases provided just that! In the back of the office, there is an AC unit that is in the wall - typical for New England. It was a bit of an eyesore when you walked into the space. We added in this OXBERG bookcase from Ikea that allowed for more storage for the teachers but created a divide between the printer room and open concept. Hello, woven divider! See below for the transformation!
Although this space came with it's challenges, we were able to create an open and inviting space that is bright and airy. By adding in some lighter colored furniture, different wood tones and textures, this stunning area rug from Rugs USA, and some pop of colors, it will created a serene working atmosphere that almost feels like home.
