The year of 2020 kept us home more and with that, it forced us to reconnect with our homes differently. Our focus changed on how we can use our homes more functionally, how to make it more cozier, and overall feel more comforting. As we shift into 2021, I want to share with you what design trends I think we will see more of and what trends will most likely stay.
TOP DESIGN TRENDS WE WILL SEE IN 2021
Natural & Organic Materials
This was a big trend in 2020 that I do not see going anywhere. By mixing light color toned woods, jute, leather, ceramic, and plants, it creates such a serene atmosphere. By layering a variety of finishes within a space, it creates depth and texture to any room - creating interest though various levels of elements. You can expect to see a lot of cane webbing furniture paired with luscious ceramic potted plants and rattan pendants lights. This is my kind of style.
Antique & Vintage Pieces
Old is the new black this year! One of the hottest trends right now is antiques and vintage pieces. This can range from art work, furniture pieces, textiles, and decor pieces. Given 2020 has been quite the year of staying home, a variety of vintage pieces bring a sense of nostalgia that we may be craving during uncertain times. The trend of mixing old & new will most likely stay for awhile. Overall, it provides a collected approach that tells a story in any home or space.
